Monster Measurement

My class spent last week working on measurement. One of  the products I used was Monster Measurement by Crystal Oswald. My students had a great time with the activities! Check out the pictures below!

Here are my kids creating their own monsters!

After we created our monsters the kids measured them. We practiced measuring in centimeters and inches.

The next day, we measured some monsters and recorded our answers on our recording sheets.

We also measured points between two monsters.

We also spent some time deciding which measuring tool we would need. We had practiced measuring in feet, yards, and inches earlier in the week.

Pick 3 for June

It's pick 3 time!! For summer, we are choosing non-school related items. Here are my choices for the month of June. Click on each picture to visit the website this pin came from. Enjoy!

Does this not look yummy! This is a summer recipe I definitely want to try!

I have made crockpot lasagna before and I love it! It's so easy! And I usually make mine and freeze it ahead of time. Then I throw it in the crockpot in the morning, turn it on, and go!

I just love that this lady made a different crockpot recipe every single day for a whole year! She has posted each of these recipes on her website. Summer is a great time to try out these recipes!

Farley Link Up!

I am listening to Grey's Anatomy. So sad to lose Derek. I read on Yahoo how he wanted to leave the show, he left his wife, and he is selling his very expensive house. Sounds like a mid-life crisis.

My husband and I went out today. Did some shopping, went out to eat, enjoyed each other.

At this point in the year I am exhausted. This is especially true with all the testing going on. It drags on and drives me crazy!!!  I need my summer to recharge!

We have some house projects that just need to be done like YESTERDAY!!!! Painting, repairing, etc...

The peace goes right along with the excessive testing that is making me insane. I think an insane asylum will be created just for teachers. There will be no crayons, pencils, paper, or apples at this asylum.

I am going to Vegas this summer. Yeah!!!! This is my first time there. I am nervous and excited at the same time. I am also hoping to get a lot accomplished for my store. I am always working on a project. I am also looking for a new job. My first choice is a gifted teacher position. Keep your fingers crossed!

Look What We've Been Up To!!!

We have been very busy in Mrs. Aydlett's 2nd grade! It's butterfly season and we have taken it by storm! I look forward to this time of year, not just because the kids get so excited, but because I enjoy it so much also! Even the principal enjoyed it by wishing our butterflies a happy birthday on the announcements when they emerged from their chrysalises! It really is a fun time!

We started out with the arrival of two cups of caterpillars.  They were tiny when they arrived, but then they ate and ate and ATE!!!!  Then they were huge!!!
As you can see, my kids loved to watch them.
They could stare at them all day (and so could I!)
When they started forming their chrysalises we were in awe!

Each day, we waited...and waited...until finally the 1st one emerged! POP! Out came that butterfly! Talk about excitement! And we kept watching for more!

We could see their wings through the chrysalis and that;s when we knew when it was close for each one. Here is a butterfly that is letting it's wings dry. Beautiful!
While we watched our butterflies, we made a life cycle wheel, kept track in our observation book, and learned many new butterfly facts!
