Little Seats!!!

I have a coworker, Marjorie, who has a fantastic creative streak in her!  Whenever one of her children has a birthday she plans the most elaborate and creative parties!  She really should go into the party business!  (She could make bundles and bundles of money in the party planning!)

Marjorie is a kindergarten teacher this year.  Her creativity has flowed from those birthday parties right into her classroom!  She made the most adorable little seats!  Marjorie said they were so simple to make.  She created them in a variety of patterns and colors.  It really brightens up her classroom!

The materials she used:
assorted crates in different colors
a piece of wood cut to fit the top
fluffy batting
assorted fabric
staple gun

Adorable!  Adorable!  Adorable!

It Finally Came!!!

I have heard great things about this pencil sharpener!  I finally ordered one and it came today!  As you can see by the picture, we sharpened random pencils and every single one has a nice sharp point.

I have been very frustrated with the pencil sharpeners I have had in my classroom.  I was at the point of having the kids write in pen.  If they messed up they would just have to put an X on it and keep going.

I can't wait to unleash this new pencil sharpener to my class tomorrow!

Link Up!

I have linked up with Farley at Oh' Boy 4th Grade!

Here is what is going on with me today!

I am currently listening to the TV.  Since starting TpT, I listen more than I actually watch.  I love many, many TV shows.  I especially love listening to old TV shows from my youth!

I love my husband!  We have been together for 29 years.  We met each other when I was 4 and he was 3 years old.

I am thinking about my schedule this week.  It is the second week of school and I am still getting my 2nd graders adjusted to the schedule and routine.

I really, really, really want a maid!  I am so busy with work and my TpT business that I have little time for anything else!

I need more hours in a day!  I am at the point where I feel that sleep is such a waste of time!  I wish I could turn that off!  We sleep 25-30% of our life!  That means if I live to be 100 years old, I will have slept at least 25 years!  What a waste of time!  Can you imagine what I could have done with that time?

I would love to go to California!  I want to see and touch the Pacific Ocean.  I have never been there or seen it.  My travels have been limited to the eastern part of the United States.

Temperature!

Every day my students record that day's temperature. As the year progresses, I end up with a bunch of these charts lined up on the wall. My kids can see the pattern of the temperature in relation to the seasons. When there is an unseasonably hot or cold day we discuss it.

Shark Week!

What I bought at the TpT sale!!!

It's that time!  The 2 day Back to School Sale at Teachers Pay Teachers!  Usually at these sales I stock up on incredible clip art...and yes...I did that again.  But this time I found some products to use with my students that I couldn't resist!

I love using the story 'Me on the Map' with my kids!  Erin Palleschi from Once Upon a Classroom has been busy creating this product for every state!  I couldn't resist purchasing the North Carolina version and I know my students will just love it!

I also purchased a variety of Flip Flap Books from Anna DiGilio's store Simply Skilled in Second.  She has a ton of them available for every subject!  I choose Pumpkins, Columbus, Johnny Appleseed, and All About Maps to kick off the new year.  The kids will love it and so will I!

I love creating books and kids love putting them together!  So I know my students will adore these products that I purchased!  I can't wait to use these with my 2nd graders this year!  Thank you Erin and Anna for creating these wonderful products!

The Very Hungry Caterpillar

I am honored to work with a very talented art teacher named Melissa.  Together we had our students create these adorable books to go with the story The Very Hungry Caterpillar.  Eric Carle is one of my favorite children's authors and this particular story has a special place in my heart.

I printed out the pages and had the children complete their writing.  Melissa had the children add their beautiful artwork.  Each child became the caterpillar as shown on the title.  Their caterpillar is hanging on a ribbon from the corner of the book.  As the child reads and turns the page, she can have her caterpillar interact with the story.

Our students loved this activity and displayed their books proudly during the art show!
