The Things That Make Us Smile!
Recently, my husband and I were on a weekend camping trip. We ran to town to the local Wal-mart to pick up some supplies.
As we walked through the parking lot...well...the picture really speaks for itself! It made us smile and laugh!
You gotta love summer and you gotta love the funny things people do!

A Special Gift
I have a student...we'll just call him Joe. Joe doesn't come from the best of homes. His situation is pretty sad. But Joe brought me a present the other day. He wanted to draw me a picture. All he could find at home was a piece of paper towel, but for Joe that was enough. On one side he drew a picture of me. On the other side he wrote that he loved me and signed his name. Such a special gift from such a special boy. Thank you Joe.

Summer Reading!
I'm linking up with Ciera from Adventures of Room 129 to share our summer reading choices!
My summer is just getting started. Here in NC, we end the school year in June. The student's last day was this past Thursday. I'm usually a pretty avid reader getting through a novel or two in a week, but in the past few years life has been more hectic and my reading has really slowed down. I did manage to read some wonderful chapter books to my students like The Phantom Tollbooth and The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane. They were fantastic and I would highly recommend them whether you are reading them with children or not.
I've already started on my summer reading with two novels. I am not one to read books related to teaching in the summer. I try to stay away from my job so I can recharge as best as possible. So everything I read will be for fun!
Here is my dog, Logan, showing you my first two books of the summer.
I actually already finished the first book. It is called Girl Underwater by Claire Kells. This is her very first novel and it just came out! And I must say she did a wonderful job! I truly enjoyed the book. My local library has a section for their newest books and that's where I found it. It sounded intriguing and it was. I really enjoyed the story and the author's style of writing. I hope she writes another novel soon!
The second book is called Twelve Across by Barbara Delinsky. I have read many of her books over the years and I always come back for more! I just love the romance she puts in her books. They are always very well written and I am never disappointed.
When I finish, I will head back to the library and grab some more. I also like to read books by Nora Roberts and Dean Koontz.
What are reading this summer?

Monster Measurement
My class spent last week working on measurement. One of the products I used was Monster Measurement by Crystal Oswald. My students had a great time with the activities! Check out the pictures below!
Here are my kids creating their own monsters!
After we created our monsters the kids measured them. We practiced measuring in centimeters and inches.
The next day, we measured some monsters and recorded our answers on our recording sheets.
We also measured points between two monsters.
We also spent some time deciding which measuring tool we would need. We had practiced measuring in feet, yards, and inches earlier in the week.
If you would love to grab this product just click on the picture below and enjoy!
